{"id":496374,"date":"2025-01-23T13:53:57","date_gmt":"2025-01-23T08:23:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inc42.com\/?p=496374"},"modified":"2025-01-23T14:58:20","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T09:28:20","slug":"ccpa-notice-to-apple-over-iphone-performance-issues-post-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inc42.com\/buzz\/ccpa-notice-to-apple-over-iphone-performance-issues-post-update\/","title":{"rendered":"CCPA Notice To Apple Over iPhone Performance Issues Post Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued a notice to Apple Inc after receiving complaints regarding performance issues following its iOS 18+ software update.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said in a post on X that CCPA is seeking a response from Apple after reviewing the grievances made to the National Consumer Helpline.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAfter receiving complaints on the National Consumer Helpline regarding performance issues in<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/iPhones?src=hashtag_click\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> #iPhones<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> following the iOS 18+ software update, the department, after examining these grievances, has issued a notice to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/Apple?src=hashtag_click\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> #Apple<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the CCPA, seeking a response on the matter,\u201d Joshi shared on X.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apple has declined to comment on Inc42\u2019s queries pertaining to the development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The development comes at a time when the Competition Commission of India (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inc42.com\/buzz\/cci-sets-up-confidentiality-ring-to-expedite-apple-antitrust-probe\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CCI) reportedly agreed last month to bring Apple inside a \u201cconfidentiality ring<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d ahead of the final hearing related to the antitrust case. The move enables the big tech company to access confidential information pertaining to the antitrust case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier last year, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inc42.com\/buzz\/apple-abused-its-dominant-position-in-app-store-market-says-cci-report\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CCI found the iPhone maker guilty of abusing its dominant position<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the app store market. Notably, Apple has been under<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inc42.com\/buzz\/cci-orders-probe-against-apple-over-its-app-store-policies\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> CCI\u2019s lens since 2021<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last week, with rising sales of its flagship iPhone devices, the company <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inc42.com\/buzz\/now-apple-brings-store-app-to-india\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rolled out the Apple Store app<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India as it looks to ramp up its retail presence in the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was also reported a few days ago that Apple surpassed<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inc42.com\/buzz\/apples-iphone-exports-from-india-breaches-inr-1-lakh-cr-mark-in-2024\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> INR 1 lakh Cr mark in iPhone exports from India in 2024<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with total shipments reaching a record $12.8 Bn. This represents a 42% increase compared to the previous year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Domestic production has also seen a dramatic increase, rising nearly 46% year-on-year to reach $17.5 Bn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In another recent development, the tech giant informed its investors that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inc42.com\/buzz\/kevan-parekh-takes-over-as-apples-new-cfo\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kevan Parekh <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">assumed office as the
